Be a part of Downing Hollow
Community Supported Agriculture
groups (CSA's) arose where urban folk wanted both fresh farm produce
and a sense of where it came from. Typically, consumers will buy a
one time 'share' in the farm's productivity at the beginning of the
season, and receive a half-bushel of freshly-picked produce every week.
They can even visit the farm and see how their vegetables are doing –
great fun for the kids!
That's our basic model at Downing Hollow Farm, but we do some
things a little differently, like allowing people to pay a bit every
month so they don't have to summon up all the cash at once.
We also encourage our customers to visit the farm and see how
their stuff is coming along. You can even name your favorite
watermelons. Just think of us as your place in the country –
then take the flavor of our wholesome little hollow back home with
you.
We are totally committed to organic growing priniciples. Your food from Downing Hollow will be completely free of synthetic chemicals or genetic modifications. We can also be your gateway to the Olive Hill community growers, as diverse and friendly a bunch of neighbors as you could wish for. From time to time, we'll include some of their harvest as well – and they follow organic principles too.
And just for good measure, Alex will occasionally don his baker's hat and throw in some homemade bagels, scones, or artisanal bread.
There's still room for more Savannah subscribers! Although we have
all the Memphis subscribers we can handle for the spring of
2009, we'd love to hear from you. If we know you're interested, we can
plan our expansion all the better.
